Polaroid Emulsion Lift
Polaroid Emulsion Lifts are one of a kind photographic images. By
using a complicated heat process, the photographic image is actually
lifted off its original surface and reapplied. In this particular
case, the artist has chosen glass.
This process differs from a Polaroid transfer, in that the image is
composed of the actual emulsion, not transferred dyes. This particular
type of Polaroid film produces just a positive. Since there is no
negative available, the image cannot ever be reprinted. The emulsion,
once lifted, is actually transparent and malleable. As with all colour
photography, Polaroid Emulsion Lifts are not archival. Keep these
images out of harsh lighting and you will enjoy this piece for many
years to come. |
